What is Feng Shui?

Feng Shui is a Chinese mathematical system developed by ancient scholars through observations accumulated over a few thousand years. It is a specialized method of harmonizing man-made environments and calculations of time and space. Feng Shui is a science incorporating astronomy, geography, the environment, magnetic fields, and physics.

“Kan Yu,” meaning “Raise the head and observe the sky above. Lower the head and observe the environment around us,” is an ancient term for Feng Shui. Feng Shui is a natural science which theorizes that the environment is considered an integral element in the art of living. Feng Shui literally means Wind and Water. In the western world it is most often known as Chinese Geomancy.

Based on the interactions among movements of the orbiting planets of the solar system (heaven),  living environment (earth), and one’s birthdate (individual), Feng Shui is a unique system which mathematically derives one’s most favorable direction for their living quarters or workplace. Additionally, Feng Shui can determine the energy in a certain room and provide an elemental remedy (Water, Wood, Fire, Earth, Metal) to balance the energy. This practice has evolved through thousands of years of experiments and observations on the world’s orderliness.
